福建省功能材料工程研究中心
福建省功能材料工程研究中心是福建省发展和改革委员会于2001年12月批准成立的省级工程研究中心，由国家“211”重点学科物理化学学科下属福州大学功能材料研究所与福建省煤炭集团(现福建省能源集团)下属全资子公司福建省龙华药业有限公司等企业共同负责建设和运行。现有符合GMP的原料药生产车间及两条原料药中试生产线。依托本“中心”2009年5月，福建省光动力治疗药物与诊疗工程技术研究中心通过了福建省科技厅平台创新建设论证，为光动力治疗药物研发与诊疗技术服务推广基地。本中心自主创制的“福大赛因”及其注射液为首个获得SFDA批准进入I期临床的化学1.1类光动力抗癌新药，该药物目前已完成I期临床试验，预计2013年底可完成II、III期临床试验研究获得新药证书或完成新药证书申报资料的提交。目前，“中心”以开发生物光敏医用材料、染料敏化太阳能阳极材料、纳米传感功能材料、环保治理多功能材料及其应用技术和工程化为重点，以现有科研成果产业化转化为主，同时吸收推广国内外先进、成熟、适用的功能材料的科研成果或工艺技术，促进其成果转化和解决产业化关键技术，为海西建设服务。
近5年来，该“中心”承担了国家科技部攻关项目1项，省科技厅重大项目2项，国际合作重点项目1项，省发改委产业化项目1项，国家自然科学基金6项及省自然科学基金多项，到校科研经费约900多万元。已获授权发明专利多项，发表论文近百篇。科研团队由教授、副教授、讲师（助研、工程师）、助教（技术员），硕士、博士研究生等40余名组成。“中心”引进许多大型进口精密贵重仪器和设备 ，另外还购置了中试设备并建有150平米中试车间。研究用房约500平米。
The Fujian Functional Materials Engineering Research Center
Fujian Functional Materials Engineering Research Center (FMERC), officially approved by Fujian Development and Reform Commission in December 2001, is a provincial engineering research center. FMERC has GMP-compliant production facilities to carry out large scale chemical synthesis. These facilities occupy an area of 150 m2. A major achievement of FMERC is the development of a novel photodynamic anti-cancer drug. "Photocynine"This is the first photosensitizer developed in China to receive approval by SFDA for its clinical Phase I trial. Photocynine has completed its clinical Phase I trial. The application for Phase II trial has been approved by SFDA.
At present, major research of FMERC focuses on developing bio-photosensitive medical materials, dye-sensitized solar energy anode materials, nano-sensing functional materials, environmental protection technology, and sewage disposal multi-functional materials. Based on this center, a major grant was approved by the Science and Technology Department of Fujian Province to establish the Fujian Photodynamic Therapy and Diagnosis Engineering Technology Research Center in May 2009. This new grant is to promote development of photodynamic drugs and provide technical services in the field of photodynamic therapy. FMERC is also funded by Ministry of Science and Technology, Fujian Development and Reform Commission, National Natural Science Foundations, giving a total amount of RMB 9 million extramural funding. FMERC has published nearly 100 articles and dozens of patents. The research team of FMERC consists of professors, associate professors, lecturers (assistant research fellows or engineers), assistant lecturers (or technicians), and around 40 Ph D. and MS students. The center is well-equipped with the state-of-art instrumentation, and has a total area of 500 square meters of office and lab space.
